How does Biostim work?

Biostim works by actively stimulating aerobic bacteria growth within a water system. This 'good' form of bacteria actively produces enzymes which speed up the process of breaking down organic material. With the aerobic bacteria now feeding on the nutrients, it means that algae and weeds can't. And over time, this bacteria eventually starves the algae and kills it off.

Can I use Biostim pellets with other algaecides?

Yes you can. Biostim doesn't affect the effectiveness of algaecide, as they essentially carry out two separate jobs within a water body. Algaecides actively target and disrupt the structure of algae rather than starving algal blooms externally.

How can I maximise the effectiveness of Biostim?

We always recommend using Biostim with some form of aeration system. That's because aerobic bacteria work best in oxygen-rich environments. And aeration is one of the best ways of creating this type of environment in a body of water through consistent gas transfer at the surface through water turbulence.

How often should I apply Biostim?

The amount of Biostim you use depends on the size of your water system. As a general rule, we recommend a dosage of 1.5kg per surface area of water (if you're using powder), 12kg per surface area (if you're using pellets) or one litre of Biostim per megalitre (if you're using liquid). Powder and liquid are faster working, though you can also use the accelerator to speed up the process.
