What is Rollgum Tack S Bond Adhesive?

Rollgum Tack S Bond Adhesive is a contact adhesive substance designed to adhere EPDM liner to different types of surfaces such as concrete, wood, masonry, metal, and other approved substrates. This makes it an invaluable tool for all types of water system installations.

Why is Bond Adhesive Important

Bond adhesives are ideal in situations where there is a built structure in place rather than a natural pond site. It is able to connect EPDM rubber liner sheets to numerous substrates, which is essential for creating a watertight boundary for bodies of water. Without an adhesive, the sheets may become unattached to the substrate, weakening the integrity of the liner and causing potential water leakages.

Benefits of Rollgum Tack S Bond Adhesive

Brand Specific

This adhesive solution is just one part of the multiple Rollgum products that are all designed to work together to provide a smooth and seamless installation.

Very Versatile

It is capable of binding EPDM liner sheets to a wide range of substrates and materials, making it the perfect solution across multiple installation types and environments.

Long-Lasting

Thanks to its waterproof and weather-resistant capabilities, once your liner is in place you will not likely need to worry about it again.

A Trusted Manufacturer

Rollgum is one of the leading manufacturers in the pond and dam liner industry, guaranteeing quality across their entire range.

How To Use Your Rollgum Tack S Bond Adhesive

The most important thing to remember when using Rollgum’s bond adhesive is that the substance sticks to whatever it makes contact with first. This means that if you attempt to bond it to a substrate that is covered with loose dust and dirt, the adhesive will bond with the dirt instead of the material, making the bond much less secure.

As a result, you should always prepare your substrate by removing any mud and grime prior to application.

You will need to coat both the substrate and the liner in the adhesive to make the bond work.

Some other useful tips include:

  • Avoiding making the connection as soon as the adhesive is applied. It needs a little time to become fully active and ready.

  • Ensuring that both the liner and substrate are completely dry before applying the adhesive.

  • Using the Rollgum silicon rubber roller to solidify the attachment.

Tip: Always keep in mind that you’ll generally only get one shot at making the attachment. If the liner bonds in the incorrect position or there are gaps between the sheets, it’s very hard to unattach them.

About Rollgum

FAQs

Why can I not apply the adhesive to wet surfaces?

Much like the adhesive will bond to dirt and grime, it will also attempt to bond to water molecules rather than the substrate surface. However, water and adhesive solutions do not mix together, so you’ll essentially be creating a barrier between your liner and substrate rather than a connection.

Is it possible to use too much adhesive?

It’s not really possible to overuse or overspray the adhesive solution. This will only result in the adhesive will take a lot longer to dry and be ready for use. Ideally, you want a thin, web-like coating for optimal results.

Does temperature affect the adhesive?

Generally we advise not to attempt the bonding if temperatures are below 5oC. Contact adhesives rely on solvents evaporating into the air to leave behind the sticky substance - this becomes difficult with colder air. Likewise, very hot temperatures can be tricky as this can cause moisture to become trapped in the solution, which will result in a weaker bond.

Do you provide free shipping?

Yes - we provide free shipping to around 95% of Australian locations. There are some remote rural and island postcodes where we may need to apply additional shipping costs prior to dispatch. In these instances, we will notify you prior to dispatching.

About Rollgum

In 1969 Joan Palou started a waterproofing company in Díaz, Spain. Early in his entrepreneurial journey he met Michel De Knop, the Managing Director of Firestone’s European operations. This led to a thriving alliance and the first EPDM liner being installed in Spanish reservoirs in the 1970s. This liner, installed over 50 years ago, continues to hold its shape, quality and look to this day. Today, Rollgum is led by Joan Palou (son) who continues his father’s legacy, producing the highest quality EPDM liner from Rollgum’s manufacturing facilities in Barcelona, Spain. Rollgum’s pond and dam range includes high quality EPDM liners, as well as quick primers, sealants, adhesive tapes, and hand tools, for joining EPDM liner together. Rollgum is renowned for being unbeatable on quality when it comes to rubber-made products.

*We provide free shipping to 95% of Australia, but there are some locations (e.g. Island and remote rural post codes) which unfortunately we cannot provide this option. Although rare, in this situation we will need to manually add the additional shipping costs prior to dispatch.
