Weed Boom–Trap Unwanted Aquatic Weeds in Waterways
$1,499 + shipping
Weed Booms function as floating barriers, effectively controlling noxious weeds and undesired aquatic plants in ponds, dams, rivers and canals. These floating barriers prevent the migration of unwanted aquatic flora, allowing for the isolation and treatment of such plants. Whether installed permanently or temporarily, Weed Booms serve as a versatile solution for managing aquatic plants in waterways.
Weed Booms are fabricated with high quality materials and intended for long-term use. While standard designs are available, custom options can be designed to your unique conditions, e.g. water way size and flow, weed type etc.

How to install the Weed Boom
- Prepare the site: Assess your water flow, depth, and potential aquatic weed sources. We can help with this. Determine how many booms you need to sufficiently cover the area.
- Anchor the curtain: Secure the ends using stakes, anchor blocks, or mooring lines to prevent drifting.
- Deploy the boom: Unroll and place the boom into the water, allowing it to float while ensuring the skirt extends downward.
- Connect multiple sections (if needed): Use heavy-duty connectors to link additional sections for extended coverage.
- Adjust and monitor: Ensure proper positioning and periodically inspect the boom to ensure it’s correctly placed.
What is a Weed Boom?
Weed booms are floating barriers designed to control where and how weeds are allowed to grow within a pond or dam. They help to prevent the migration of unwanted aquatic flora, allowing for the isolation and treatment of these pesky plants. Whether installed permanently or temporarily, weed booms serve as a versatile solution for aquatic plant management.
Why a Weed Boom is Important
All pond and dam owners across Australia will know of the constant battle they must fight against invasive weeds and algal blooms. Without a weed boom in place, owners can often find it very difficult to stop algae and weeds from growing wherever they can. This effective dominance over a water system leads to further problems related to native plants as well as water or fish health.

FAQs
What maintenance will I need for my weed boom?
If you plan on keeping your boom as a permanent structure, you will need to make sure that it remains in its desired place within the water so that weeds and algae have no chance of slipping through the net. You may wish to clear the skirt every few months in the event of heavy buildup. If your boom is temporary, always ensure that it is stored in the same state as when it arrived.
What else can I use once I’ve trapped the weeds?
Once you have your weeds contained in a specific location, you can use a combination of physical removal tools such as our Deskuzzer or Beachroller. You can also opt for a probiotic, biological solution such as Biostim to remove the root cause of weed and algae growth.
Can I use a weed boom throughout the whole year?
Yes you can. Our weed boom is resilient against all types of weather and temperatures. Keep in mind that weed and algal growth mostly comes to a stop during the winter months, so you can always choose to remove it during these periods without the risk of weeds becoming a problem.
Do you provide free shipping?
Yes - we provide free shipping to around 95% of Australian locations. There are some remote rural and island postcodes where we may need to apply additional shipping costs prior to dispatch. In these instances, we will notify you prior to dispatching.
