What is an Aquatic Weed Hand Cutter?
An aquatic weed hand cutter is a tool used for ponds, dams, and other types of water systems to help keep weed growth under control. It features a serrated blade that slices through all types of problematic pond plants which can then be cleared away easily using additional tools.
Why an Aquatic Weed Hand Cutter is Important
Every pond and dam owner knows of the challenge of keeping weeds under control. If they are allowed to dominate a water system, they can stifle growth of native plants and cause high levels of harmful emissions such as ammonia. By carrying out regular, systematic clearing of your weeds through use of our pond weed cutter, you’re taking a big step in making sure your system remains healthy and functional.

Tips for Using Your Aquatic Weed Hand Cutter
While cutting through a group of weeds is quite a straightforward process, the trick is to try and reduce the chances of rapid regrowth at the same time. In order to achieve this, there are a few simple considerations to keep in mind:
-
Avoid leaving cut weeds in the water. This is crucial as even the smallest portion of stem or fragment, if allowed to settle back into the sludge or water bank, can cause the weed to quickly grow back to what it was before.
-
Always keep your blade sharp. This helps reduce the physical exertion and ensures clean cuts each time.
-
Try to schedule your weed maintenance around early spring, as this is when the weeds are likely to be young and tender having just got through winter.

FAQs
Can I use the weed hand cutter for all types of weeds?
Yes you can. Our weed hand cutter is capable of cutting through both marginal and submerged plants, making it an ideal all-round tool for weed maintenance.
How often should I carry out weed maintenance?
This is usually dependent on your own system and setup. Some environments produce more weeds than others, so may require more frequent clearing sessions. If you find that you’re having to constantly fight weeds, you may need to explore whether your nutrient levels are out of control and try to minimise this through the use of a product such as Biostim.
What causes high levels of weed growth?
Weeds thrive in environments that are high in nutrients, which are stimulated through decomposing organic matter and agricultural runoff. This organic matter sinks to the bottom to create a nutrient-rich sludge that acts as a type of soil that weeds can bed into. Shallow, stagnant waters that are low in oxygen also contribute to rapid weed growth.
