What is Rollgum Smooth EPDM Liner?
Rollgum’s smooth EPDM pond liner is a high-performance liner that is installed at the bottom of a pond or lake and is made of tough, synthetic rubber. It is available as a single sheet and with a range of different thicknesses, including 0.8mm and 1.14mm. Unlike plastic liners that bubble and deteriorate over time, EPDM provides a smooth, natural look that doesn’t fade over time.
It is ideal for large-scale installations where long-term reliability and aesthetics matter.

How To Install Your Rollgum Smooth EPDM Liner

Roll out your liner. If you can, allow it to sit in direct sunlight for a short while before applying it to your pond site. The heat will allow the material to be more malleable.

At the points of crossover between the sheets, add the Rollgum EPDM primer. This helps to activate the binding substance within the material, making the connections far more secure.

Connect the seams across your pond site using your Rollgum joining tape. If you need to attach your liner to concrete or other similar substrates, you can also use the Rollgum adhesive spray.

Make sure that you allow for plenty of slack at the surface once your sheets are in place. The weight of the water will naturally drag the sheets down, and you’ll want to make sure you have enough left over to cover the upper edges of your water body.
TIp: Unlike many other EPDM liners, Rollgum doesn’t require you to scrub off powdery micra with a scouring pad before joining.

What makes EPDM a better choice than other pond liner materials?
EPDM offers a consistently high performance across all typical metrics when compared to other similar materials. High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is very durable and has high levels of chemical resistance but is much less flexible than EPDM (especially in relation to irregularly-shaped dams). Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is often a bit cheaper but is much more prone to UV damage.
What is the typical lifespan of a Rollgum EPDM liner?
When installed correctly, Rollgum EPDM pond liner can last over fifty years (the first liner was installed in 1970 in a Spanish reservoir and is still going strong today)! If your terrain is a bit harsher and more prone to underground movement, this lifespan can drop a little. The thickness of the material can also affect expected lifespans.
Do I need an underlay?
For the best protection and longevity, we strongly recommend using a liner underlay. The underlay provides a protective cushion between the liner and the ground, reducing the risk of punctures from rocks, roots, or sharp debris. It also improves installation quality and extends the lifespan of your EPDM liner.
Will I need to carry out much maintenance on my Rollgum liner?
No. If you install your EPDM pond liner correctly the first time around, you may find yourself in a position where you don’t need to worry about it again. The only obvious exception to this is if you notice substantial changes in your water clarity, which could be as a result of a tear or puncture.

Returns
Goods purchased from Love My Dam are unable to be returned without first reaching out to us and requesting a return. Unfortunately, returns cannot be made for pond and dam liners. No returns can be accepted unless a copy of the purchase invoice is enclosed with the returned item/s. Along with the goods and invoice, please include a list of the goods to be returned, including the product description, quantity, date of return and the customer’s name and address. The items must be returned in the original packaging. Freight charges for returns must be paid by the customer. The customer is responsible for any damage incurred during return shipment. We are only able to issue a credit note after the goods have been successfully returned.
Change of Mind
A request to return goods (except pond and dam liners) because of a change of mind must be made within 7 days of delivery, unless otherwise agreed. Freight charges must be paid by the customer for all change of mind returns.
Cancellation
No cancellation or partial cancellation of an order by the customer can be accepted by Love My Dam unless first consented in writing. Sometimes a cancellation charge will need to be paid by the customer. Cancellations cannot be accepted on goods that are not regular stock which are in the process of manufacture or ready for shipment.
Complaints
All complaints, claims, or notification of lost goods, incomplete goods, damaged goods, or goods that do not comply with your purchase order must be submitted to us in writing within 48 hours of the date of delivery. The exception is pond and dam liners which must be submitted to us immediately on receipt of the products. Otherwise, we will consider you to have accepted the items.
