Universal Liner Repair Kit (2 Patches)
A damaged liner caused by rocks, roots, wildlife, installation damage or general wear-and-tear doesn’t have to mean replacing your entire liner. This Universal Liner Repair Kit is designed to quickly and effectively patch EPDM, HDPE, PVC, plastic and other flexible liners used in ponds, dams, tanks and water features.
At the heart of the kit is a high-strength patch tape with a unique adhesive formulation that bonds to virtually any surface. When used together with the included Rollgum EPDM Primer, the bond becomes even stronger; delivering a long-lasting, waterproof repair you can trust.
Complete Liner Repair Kit – What's Included?
Each Universal Liner Repair Kit contains:
-
2 × High-strength tape patches (suitable for EPDM, HDPE, PVC and plastic liners)
-
1 × Rollgum EPDM Primer (50 ml)
-
1 × Application paint brush
-
1 × Pressure roller
-
1 × Pair of disposable gloves
-
1 × Alcohol wipe for surface preparation
All components in this kit are specifically selected to ensure strong adhesion, waterproof sealing, and long-term durability when repairing any type of pond or dam liner.
How to Use the Kit
-
Put on the gloves
-
Clean the damaged area thoroughly using the alcohol wipe
-
Apply the Rollgum EPDM Primer with the included brush
-
Apply the patch tape over the hole, tear or puncture
-
Roll firmly over the patch using the pressure roller to fully seam the join
This process ensures the tape achieves maximum adhesion and forms a watertight seal that flexes with the liner.
One Kit. Many Liners.
Unlike traditional repair kits limited to a single liner material, this kit is suitable for:
-
EPDM pond liners
-
HDPE liners
-
PVC liners
-
Plastic liners
-
Other flexible waterproof membranes
Strong, Flexible & Built to Last
Once bonded, the patch tape forms a tough yet flexible seal that moves with your liner rather than cracking or lifting, extending the life of your liner and helping you avoid costly replacements.
Causes of Tears and Punctures in Pond and Dam Liners
There are a number of factors that might cause tears and punctures in pond and dam liners. Some of the most common include:
-
Substrate and ground issues: Even the smallest stones and rocks can become a problem over time. The constant weight of water presses the liner down against these stones, causing huge pressure. Roots and gas buildup beneath the liner can also have a similar effect.
-
UV and temperature exposure: Over time, steady UV exposure can cause materials to become brittle and break more easily. Likewise, liners within regions that experience extreme temperature swings can suffer from stress cracking.
-
Animal behaviour: Animals that come into direct contact with the liner might inadvertently cause tearing and punctures.
-
Poor installation: If the liner is not installed correctly the first time around, it becomes much more vulnerable to issues. Dragging the liner across rough ground and pulling the liner too taut are common installation errors.

FAQs
What are some clear signs that my liner has a puncture?
There are two common clues that may indicate your liner has suffered damage. If you notice your water quickly becoming clouded, it is likely that dirt and other sediments are seeping in from an opening in the lining. You may also notice your water levels beginning to drop as water escapes through the hole and into the material or substrate underneath.
If I have an underlay, do I still need to make repairs?
An underlay is designed to offer additional protection to your pond lining rather than act as a failsafe in the event that your lining is damaged. If there is a tear or puncture in your lining, there is a high chance that the underlay around that area is also damaged as well.
How can I locate the tear if I think I have one?
If you suspect you have a puncture or tear in your water system, you should start by turning off your filters and fountains so that the water is as still as possible. If there is a leak below the surface, the water will drain until it reaches the tear. If you have an idea where the puncture might be, you can squirt some pond dye into your water - it will get sucked towards the hole with escaping water if one is present.
