What is Biostim?

Biostim is a natural biological stimulant that encourages the growth of aerobic bacteria. This 'good' bacteria is essential for the long-term health and stability of a water system, as it feeds off the nutrients that would usually fuel algae growth. With nothing to sustain it, green algae will starve and die off, leaving your dam and pond water clean and clear.

What's the best way of applying Biostim?

To achieve the best results with Biostim, we recommend starting off with a heavier dosage to get the process going. As a general rule, we often suggest 10kg of pellets per surface acre, or one litre of Biostim liquid per megalitre. The most important thing is to make this a regular part of your monthly maintenance routine, though you can start to lessen the amounts as time goes on. You should see results within the first two months of application.

Is Biostim harmful to fish and aquatic plants?

Absolutely not. Biostim is 100% natural and causes no issues in a fish pond when used for algae control. It contains no harsh chemicals, so once its part of the water body, it will not harm pond life or pets and animals looking to drink from the water.

How does a lake bottom blanket help with aquatic weed control?

When placed on the bottom of a lake or pond, a blanket starves weeds of sunlight. Over time, weeds will eventually die off as they have no access to photosynthesis. You should keep the blanket in place for about four weeks. Once this time has elapsed, you can move the blanket and clear the dead debris, before placing it back.
