The surge of water makes an impressive waterfall or a stream running off your dam. The pump runs off a regular 10amp plug, aka it can run off normal mains power which is rare for a pump of this capacity. 10mm hole size in strainer. 3 inch female outlet fitting.

Ideal for: fountains, waterfalls, streams, irrigation systems, sump pits, irrigating or discharging water from farmland or ponds, discharging rainwater etc.

Matala Pump Defender

The Matala Pump Defender is designed to protect your Matala pump by preventing large debris from entering. Crafted from premium Matala Filter Media, the media is placed in a net which fits snuggly over your pump and assists in keeping everything flowing smoothly. This improves the longevity of your Matala pump and reduces your maintenance requirements. It also means that when it comes time to clean your pump, the job is easier as Matala Filter Media does not clog when used correctly. You can simply shake the debris off and wipe over your pump.

How to Maintain Your Matala Waterfall

As with most types of pond and dam equipment, there are a handful of maintenance steps that you will need to keep on top of if you want your pond to remain fully functional and efficient. These include:

• Carrying out a weekly check to confirm there is an even flow of water and that there are no leaks behind the box.

• Removing any leaves, twigs, or pond muck that has collected on top of the filter mats to prevent your water flow from backing up.

• Pulling the Matala mats out to give them a clean. A light spray with a garden hose will do the job.

Tip: When cleaning the mats, avoid using chlorinated or soapy tap water as this can have a negative impact on the good bacterial cultures that have established themselves on the mat surface.

FAQs

Can I keep my waterfall running during winter?

It is possible to keep Matala waterfalls running throughout winter, though ice dams can build up in particularly frigid areas. As water is continually being circulated, it won’t have a chance to freeze. 

Why is my waterfall box leaking from the back?

If water is trickling down the back of the box instead of the front spillway, it could be that you have a clogged filter mat meaning water can no longer get through. The box may also have become tilted or uneven, or the plumbing connection itself may have loosened.

Are there different waterfall dimensions available?

Yes. We also sell waterfall bundles to facilitate heights of up to 5m and 9m.

Do you provide free shipping?

Yes - we provide free shipping to around 95% of Australian locations. There are some remote rural and island postcodes where we may need to apply additional shipping costs prior to dispatch. In these instances, we will notify you prior to dispatching.
