FAQs

Does the extra light encourage excess algae growth?

LEDs generally won’t stimulate unwanted algae growth as algae generally needs both light and warmth in order to grow. LEDs won’t heat the water in the same way that halogen bulbs do, so LEDs are safer in this regard. You can further mitigate this by putting your lights on at times so that they don’t operate all night.

What maintenance is required on my LED lights?

Other than changing them when they finally burn out, LED lights generally don’t require much maintenance at all. You will need to periodically clear the surface of the lens of biofilm that might accumulate if you want to keep your lighting as bright as possible.
