Foam Buster–Wastewater Foaming Filaments Reducer (20kg)
Foam Buster is a blend of specially formulated proteins, free amino acids, and micronutrients, which reduces foaming in oxidation ditches, activated sludge plants, SBRs, extended aeration wastewater treatment plants, and aerobic digestors.
How it reduces foam
Foam can form when grease, emulsions and petroleum hydrocarbon-based products degrade in the presence of filaments like nocardia, gordonia amare and microthrix parvicella. These filaments use fats, oils and greases in combination with their own fatty acid by-products to produce a buoyant fatty cell wall (aka foam). Foam Buster reduces this foam by reducing populations of these (“foam-making”) filaments in your water. This is done through encouraging the growth of naturally occurring bacteria. These floc-forming bacteria eliminate filaments in two ways: (1) they produce specialised biocatalysts that degrade the filaments, and (2) they consume the same nutrients relied upon by the filaments, thus starving them out.
Benefits
- Greatly reduces levels of foaming
- Improves settling
- Removes sludge
- Improves the degradation of emulsions, surfactants and petroleum hydrocarbon-based products
- Controls nocardia, gordonia and microthrix
- Reduces effluent BOD and TSS
- Supports flocc-forming bacteria
