How Does the Natural Algae Attack Bundle Work?

The Natural Algae Attack bundle uses an entirely natural approach to getting rid of your algae problem. Below is an exploration of how the two Biostim products work together to treat algae overgrowth or an algal bloom right at the source.

1. The introduction of our Biostim Tablets into your dam starts the process of stimulating the natural growth of “good” bacteria in your dam. As these microbial populations grow, they consume nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus which algae depend on to survive, aka the “good” bacteria take the food from the algae, starving the algae out of the aquatic system.
2. The Biostim Tablets are designed to settle onto the floor of your dam. They release the mix of probiotics, enzymes and nutrients into the dam slowly, helping to stimulate the growth of “good” bacteria. These “good” bacteria also get to work breaking down organic waste and decaying material that forms the layer of sludge on the floor of your dam.
3. Sludge is a source of food for algae because it’s a constant supply of nutrients to your water. By reducing sludge in your dam, you’ll greatly reduce this supply of nutrients, which will not only starve out current algae but put conditions in place to prevent future algal blooms.
4. The introduction of the Biostim Accelerator then acts as a biocatalyst to speed up the whole process. It essentially puts everything explained above into turbo-charge.

When Should I Use the Natural Algae Attack Bundle?

So, when is the right time to use the Natural Algae Attack Bundle?

• You’ve got a new algae problem: A new algae problem can be treated easily with our natural approach. It may take a few weeks for you to notice the difference, but your dam will remain chemical-free and in good shape after the treatment.
• You’ve got blue-green algae in your dam: Our Natural Algae Attack Bundle can also be used on blue-green algae but keep in mind blue-green algae is often toxic. So if you are treating water, do not use the water for irrigation and keep livestock, domestic animals and people far away from the water. Test for blue-green algae using our DIY home test kit.

What Causes Algae Problems in the First Place?

Perfect conditions for algae growth are warm water, lots of nutrients, and lots of sunlight. These conditions are almost always met by Australian summers, which means that walls and surfaces in your dam can suddenly become covered in algae.

Preventing algal growth means creating an ecosystem within your dam that outcompetes algal growth. This means the presence of naturally occurring bacteria that consume the nutrients and compete with algae for their food source to stop them from growing out of control.

Why Should I Go Natural With Treatment?

Natural treatment for an algal bloom will mean hard work and maintenance of your dam, but the outcome will be worth it. Unlike chemical treatment, which only ever treats the symptoms of an algal bloom, natural solutions go deeper and attack at the root.

For algal overgrowth, the problem is often eutrophication, warm water, and stagnant water bodies. While you can’t do much about warm water in the heat of summer, you can do something about the other two.

For eutrophication (or having too many nutrients in your dam), you can use Biostim to stimulate bacterial growth that outcompetes the algae for the nutrients, like nitrogen, in the dam. This means that there is less food for the algae to feed on and grow.
